Code of Conduct

The Dutchess County Fairgrounds has ZERO Tolerance for Bad Behavior.  We are committed to creating a safe, and family friendly environment.  When attending our events, we ask that all visitors abide by the following guidelines and should expect an environment where: 

  • Visitors shall be treated in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
  • Visitors shall always wear appropriate attire. Shirts and shoes are to be worn at all times. Obscene or indecent messages on clothing are not permitted.
  • Visitors shall enjoy the Fair free from bad behavior, including foul or offensive language or obscene gestures.

Visitors shall not engage in activities that could endanger others, including but not limited to fighting, engaging in intimidating, disorderly or disruptive behavior.    Guests who choose not to adhere to these guidelines shall be subject to removal from the grounds without refund. 

The Dutchess County Fairgrounds staff have been trained to intervene when necessary to help ensure that the above Code of Conduct guidelines are met, and guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest staff member. 

Approved Bags/Carry-In Items

  • All bags will be subject to search upon arrival and entry. Any bags or carry items that do not meet the approved criteria must be returned to vehicles.
  • Bags brought into the fair can be no larger than 9”x10”x12”. Larger bags will need to be returned to a vehicle before entering.  Medically necessary items will be allowed with proper inspection.
  • Diaper bags can accompany a baby with proper inspection.
  • Soft sided coolers for infants/family or to accommodate dietary needs will be allowed with proper inspection.

The following is Prohibited:

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Hard coolers or ice chests, glass containers, laser pointers, selfie sticks, drones, balls or frisbees, fireworks or noisemakers,
  • Outside food and beverages except for special dietary needs
  • Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, heelies, segways, and golf cars
  • No campaigning or solicitation of any kind
  • No outside alcohol, narcotics, or any illegal substances.
  • Balloons, brochures, handbills, or adhesive stickers
  • Sitting on or placing feet on tabletops, spitting and littering
  • Disorderly or disruptive conduct and threatening, belligerent or hostile behavior.

ATM Cash Machines

Cash Machines are available in 3 locations on the fairgrounds, Arts & Crafts building (Building E) vestibules, and near the Main Restrooms during all events.  Other ATM locations are located throughout the grounds during Fair time.  Please check locations at Information Booths.

Rock & Rest Tent

Located in the restrooms. During Fair time, at the Nursing Nook (Map Location #8).

Water Refilling Stations 

Water Refilling Stations are located near the Main and Track Restrooms.

First Aid Station(s)

Event Medical Services personnel are on duty during events throughout the year and during extended hours at Fair time.  Minor injuries and ailments are treated at the First Aid Stations located: near the Main Restrooms (map #9), near the 4-H Exhibit Hall (map #24), and near the Horse Arenas (map #63).  In the event of serious illness or injury, Dial 911.

Lost & Found

The Dutchess County Fairgrounds is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.  Please lock your car.
  • During the Fair: All lost and found articles can be turned in or claimed at the State Police Command Center (map #11).  If you realize you are missing an item after you get home, give our Lost & Found a call at 845-876-3074.
  • All Other Events: Lost & Found articles will be turned into the Fairgrounds Administration Office, 845-876-4000.

Obtain a map of the Fairgrounds at Information Booths.  Maps are included in the Fair program and are posted at several locations on the grounds.  The guest service personnel will provide directions to locations on the grounds. 

Media & Photo Disclaimer

Smile & be happy!  The Dutchess County Fairgrounds is an open, public event.  Professional photographers, media or reporters will be present taking pictures and footage at the event.  Photo, video, and audio may be taken for promotional purposes.  All persons entering the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, are subject to having their image and/or likeness being used, published, or reproduced in all media which can be used now or in the future, for any purpose by or in connection to the Dutchess County Fair and its events without limitation or reservation.  

Mobility Devices

Wheelchairs, Scooters & Mobility Devices are not available for any other events EXCEPT for the Dutchess County Fair

No refunds for any reason!

Non-Smoking Facility

Smoking and vaping are not allowed anywhere on the grounds.

Pets Policy

We know that your pet is part of your family, and we love animals too, but No Pets are allowed on the Fairgrounds at any time. 

This facility operates in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Service Animal Defined by Title II & Title III of the ADA:  Emotional Support, Comfort and Therapy Animals are not considered service animals and are not permitted. 

Service Dogs are welcome at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds provided they are on a leash or lead at all times.  The animal must always be under control.  All service dogs MUST HAVE PROOF of rabies vaccination to enter the grounds.

Leave your pets at home.  This is a county fair with livestock and entertainment animals.  Pets brought into the fair create a safety hazard and are not allowed. 

DO NOT leave your pet in the car.  Any animal left in a vehicle will be turned over to the local authorities/dog warden at the expense of the owner.

Re-admission

A hand stamp is required for re-admission.  If a hand stamp is not present, or if it appears to have been tampered with or transferred, the purchase of a ticket will be required. 

Safety Practices & Features - State Police & Security

  • A large, continuous presence of police officers and security officers
  • Metal detection at fair entrances. Patrons and their possessions are subject to search.
  • Weapons restrictions: Weapons of any kind or objects that appear to be weapons. Including but not limited to guns, knives, tasers, mace.  Weapons (concealed carry or open carry) are not allowed on fairgrounds property even if you are a permit holder. 
  • Surveillance cameras will be operating throughout the fairgrounds 24 hours a day for the duration of the Fair.

All emergency concerns should be directed to security or fairground personnel.  Security personnel are on duty 24 hours a day during the Fair, both on the grounds and in the State Police Command Center located near the main restrooms (map #11) or Dial 911.

Tickets

BEWARE OF TICKET SCAMS!  Some online ticket brokers may imply that they are an official website for ticket purchase for our events, only ETIX and their website www.Etix.com; or the Dutchess County Fairgrounds website www.dutchessfair.com are the official online ticket purchase points for the Dutchess County Fair concerts and events.  We cannot guarantee that tickets purchased from other sources are legitimate.  We will not be able to assist you if there is a problem with tickets purchased from other companies.
