2017 DCAS Scholarship Overview & Application

The Dutchess County Agricultural Society awards one scholarship up to a maximum of $8,000 paid up to four (4) consecutive years, in increments of $2,000 per annum.  The recipient must seek an undergraduate degree in agriculture, horticulture or human ecology or a career related to agriculture or horticulture in the discretion of the scholarship committee.


To be considered for this scholarship an applicant must:

  • Demonstrate commitment to an involvement in volunteer service in the community
  • Enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college or university, to commence no later than the fall of 2016.  Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment and attendance for the entire 2016-2017 academic year.

Award Criteria

The selection of a recipient of this scholarship will be based on solid academic performance, leadership ability and community service.  Preference will be given to a participant in the programs operated by DCAS Inc.  Financial need is not necessarily considered.

Application Procedure

An applicant must follow all instructions as set forth in the scholarship application.  The application must be returned to the Dutchess County Agricultural Society, to the attention of Vicki Imperati, at the address set forth herein above, by the deadline established, without exception.

Award Amounts and Conditions

The scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $2,000 renewable each year for up to four consecutive years in duration, while an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university.  Payment will be made, in one installment, directly to the college or university at the beginning of the academic year.  Subsequent payments will be issued only upon the receipt of a college or university transcript of credits, validated by the said institution, immediately upon receipt by the recipient, but in no circumstances any later than July 31 of the current calendar year.

The recipient must maintain full-time student status and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0.

 To the Applicant

The applicant for this scholarship is responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information.  Applications are evaluated on the information supplied to the scholarship committee; therefore, all questions and requirements related to the applications process must be completed without exception.  The application deadline for the 2016 scholarship is MAY 13, 2016 at 4pm, or a postmark bearing the same date. There are no exceptions.
