The Animals & Agriculture

The Dutchess County Fair is the showplace for agriculture in Dutchess County. Just as farmers gathered together at our founding fairs nearly two hundred years ago, they still come together today to show their prize cattle and display the best of their crops. Even as the face of agriculture changes, the Dutchess County Agricultural Society, Inc. continues its commitment to "preserving, protecting, and promoting" the agricultural integrity of this great fair.

Thousands of farm animals representing nearly a dozen different species are transported from farm to fair for competition and display. All the best of Dutchess County farm-grown produce makes the trip from garden to fairgrounds, as well.

Some of the special Agricultural Attractions include:

Salute to Agriculture Pavilion and Dairy Birthing Center (see a calf born)
Canine Tent with daily dog demonstrations
Grange exhibits
Horse and Livestock Shows
4-H and FFA Exhibits, Shows, Demonstrations and Displays by the hundreds
Spinning, Weaving & Wool Dyeing Demonstrations
Horse Pulling and Draft Horse Show
Stick Pony Rodeo for children
Milking Parlor (watch cows being milked)

We want your trip to the fair to be just as safe as this visit to our website. We provide the following to guarantee a SAFE and fun filled visit:

Handicapped parking

Lighted parking lots

State Police and Lost Children Center

Clean and supervised restrooms

First Aid Building with satellite and mobile units throughout the fairgrounds

Uniformed security throughout the fairgrounds

Carnival Supervisory Staff on the midway with radio contact to Fair Security

Rock & Rest Nursing Mothers Tent

Maps of the fairgrounds containing daily event schedules and emergency and first aid contact/location information are available at each of the entrance gates

When visiting the fair with children, be sure to have a pre-determined meeting spot in the event you get separated.
